Birgit Englert is Assistent Professor at the Department of African Studies. She leads the POCUTRAS project and holds a part-time position as senior researcher. Birgit carries out research for the case study in Marseilles and focuses especially on HipHop and Afrofolk.

Katharina Fritsch is a PhD student at the Department of Political Science at the University of Vienna. Within the project she holds a pre-doc position for three years starting from June 1, 2014. Katharina works on the case study in Marseilles and focuses especially on the musical genre Twarab in a context of cultural markets.

Hanna Stepanik is a PhD student at the Department of Development Studies at the University of Vienna. Within the project she holds a pre-doc position for three years starting from October 1, 2015. Hanna works on the the case study in Lisbon.

Andrés Carvajal is an independent filmmaker and holds a degree in Visual Anthropology. He is based in Barcelona and works for the project on a contractual basis. Andres is responsible for the production of audiovisual material relating to the research of the team.

Mounir Hamada Hamza is an artist in the domains of comedy and music. He is based in Marseille and works for the project on a contractual basis. Mounir currently works together with Andres and Katharina on a research film project on Twarab music.

Ahmad Abdoul-Malik is a PhD student at the Laboratoire d’Economie et de Sociologie du travail, Aix Marseille Université. He works for the project on a contractual basis and currently contributes to the film project on Twarab.
